Extinct are the days when the song Mr. Postman is quite a hit with people who are in long distance relationships. An overseas worker coming home to his girlfriend after a year only to find out his girlfriend had long been married dramas are no longer believable. That, I am grateful to technology for making distances between two people shorter by helping people keep in touch. The world is getting smaller all the time as communication products and services are getting more efficient.

I have listed here my favorite softwares that had helped me in my communication with my loved ones, which i believe will help those who are in Long Distance Relationship (LDR) as much as it helped me by helping keep friends and families together, wherever they are in the world.

1. SKYPE This is my favorite software application since it allows you to make free calls over the internet to other people on Skype for as long as you like, to wherever you like. Skype lets you call anyone else on Skype absolutely free. So, even if you don’t have a webcam, you can still use Skype to talk with friends and family for as long as you want - free. When it comes to real-time video communication, i find this best compared to Yahoo Messenger and MSN.

2. Magic Jack - For calling my family or friends who do not use a computer or Internet, I find magicjack so easy to use. With USB on one end and a phone cable on the other, you simply plug it into your computer, and the software and drivers are installed which instantly changes your PC into a VoIP hub which lets you make very inexpensive local as well as long-distance perfect quality calls. Unlike Skype and other popular VoIP start ups, MagicJack does not require any headphone to be attached to your PCs for VoIP services. It provides a number of services such as call waiting, 911 service, conference calling and voice mail. It has a FollowMe feature that forwards calls to other phone numbers when a person is offline.

3. Facebook Among all the Social Networks, this must be my favorite. Being the first social networking site to incorporate third-party applications into the system; users have a variety of options to choose from.status, socializing. Facebook made it easier to keep in touch with friends by its easy to update status and by giving the users the capacity to like or to comment to your status. You can add quizzes, support tags, feeds and more. With the number of applications that Facebook has, it makes it easy to keep in touch with current friends, reconnect with old friends or create real–life friendships through similar interests or groups. Besides establishing important social relationships, social networking members can share their interests with other like–minded members by joining groups and forums. Facebook has taken hold as undisputable leader amongst social networking site with more worldwide users.

4. Paypal Being a pilot in providing “email currency”, a system where you could send money via email, had managed to get access to a growing user base. When it comes to sending and receiving money, this online payment system is my favorite since,I have already processed thousand dollars worth of transactions and never had trouble accessing my money.Paypal gives you the the ability to send and receive money online fast.

US AIRWAYS Flight 3079 from Laguardia to Louisville was diverted to Philadelphia after a seeming bomb scare wthis Thursday morning. The reports said that the scare was brought about by a seventeen year old boy who was using phylacteries travelling from White Plains New York with his 16 year old sister to Louisville.

"So great is the mitzvah of tefillin that whoever wears them will live a long life.... and Raba said that all who wear tefillin and wrap themselves with a tallis, and say the Shema and pray are promised a place in Olam Haba,.... Abaye said that the fires of Gehinom will not affect him.... Rav Papa said that all of his sins are forgiven." [Tur O"H 37}

SO WHAT IS A PHYLACTERY?
A Phylactery,collectively known as tefillin is either of the two small boxes, usually made of black leather with straps attached to them worn on the arm and head during certain Jewish services tefillin is either of two small leather boxes with straps attached to them containing texts from the Hebrew Scriptures traditionally worn (on the forehead and the left arm) by Jewish men during morning prayer. Observant Jewish men are required to place one box on their head and tie the other one on their arm as part of their morning prayers.

Apparently, the City police Lt. Frank Vanore says the crew on US Airways Flight 3079 questioned the teen because the tefillin is something that the average person is not going to see very often according to FBI spokesman J.J. Klaver. The teens were cooperative with law enforcement and were even more alarmed than they were according to the police.

Good news is the plane landed without incident and that the passengers deplaned and are being re accommodated on other flights according to US Airways spokesperson Jim Olson.

What a great honor it is to celebrate the birthday of our American hero Dr. Martin Luther King.

In today's climate, the days, where true stand up heros are few and far between, Dr. King reminds us of the power we ALL have.

Today, to give your life for what you believe in is seen by most to be insane.

Instead we whine and complain, post on blogs or just try to pretend the ugliness of the world doesn't exist.

Dr. King's legacy has lived on because he took a stand that he knew might cost him his life.

Haiti Earthquake

As you walk over the rocks and the scrambled pieces of what used to be a building you hear the desperate but weak moans and cry’s of “help me, please”

To many to count, everywhere you go.

You are powerless.

Imagine the smell of rotting human bodies by the thousands lining the streets, so many in fact they have to be moved by bulldozers to make way for aid for the living.

Imagine the frustration of doctors and aid workers with little or no supplies, people dying, when they know massive stocks of supplies are just a few miles away, held only by disorganization…

I am sure that all of us are guilty that we have already failed to do something that we should have. And when this case happens, we immediately resort into making alibis or excuses.

Usually, it is because we do not want to accept responsibility for our mistake and we do not want to admit our fault that we end up being excuse-makers. Making excuses for mistakes is not new. In fact, we can trace this undesirable habit all the way back to the Garden of Eden when God caught Adam eating the forbidden fruit.

Excuses negate responsibility.

Excuses are harmful because they prevent one from succeeding. When we make excuses and repeat them often enough, we tend to believe it to be true already, and this further inhabit us from taking corrective measures.

Limitations are actually a thing of the mind. We can do anything we make up your mind to do. Determination always finds a way around obstacles. It is by refusing to make excuses and in being responsible that we build our self-respect, pride and confidence, which in turn breeds competence and power. By living up to our promises and obligations, we win the trust of others which in turn helps us to succeed.

A very inspiring role model for this is Filipino American Jessica Cox who was born without arms. She is a daughter of a retired American music teacher and a Filipina nurse from Samar province. Jessica, despite being born without arms, holds the distinction of being the first woman pilot in aviation history to fly with her feet.

There are many strategies to living a successful life, but nothing makes sense unless you have already been through all the previous guides , it's time to know what the road to success looks like so as not to be frightened when you start walking that path. You will feel proud of yourself for overcoming all of these obstacles and for reaching your goals despite of the many things that stood in your way. This does not invoke violence. It simply means give value to other’s opinions about you as to how realistic and important as they really are. There is nothing wrong with having to listen to other people, as long as these opinions does not inhibit us from being the best person we could be.

How you think is everything. Remember to “think positive” at every opportunity. Visualize success, not failure. Avoid negative environments and people.

I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, Philippians 3:13....

One of the great secrets of successful people is having the ability to forgive. I know for a lot of people it is not an easy task especially when we are hurt and we have been wronged. Also, when we feel that there is an injustice done towards us. But let me tell you why it is a necessary ability for people who want to succeed in life.

Not being able to forgive is the greatest obstacle that anyone who wants to succeed in life could ever have. It cripples us physically, mentally, emotionally as well as spiritually. Allowing the bad things in our life to haunt us is a thief that will rob us of health, happiness, and success, if we allow it. As the famous saying goes:

Not forgiving someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. ~ Unknown....

For some people, it is hard to forgive a wrong done to us because of the thinking that it is an admission that no injustice has taken place. Yes, there might have been an injustice, but it is not an admonition to ignore the past and the pains that we have been afflicted with, but simply not letting this past and pains to continue to hurt us. By forgiving, we are disarming this injustice and disabling the power that this injustice had once over us.

For some of us, we might find forgiving hard to do, because we feel that forgiving would seem that we are soft or passive about sin, but in reality, forgiving does not mean that we tolerate sin, but instead, we are being righteous through it. It does not mean that we have to compromise our righteousness; instead we increase the righteousness within us to be able to rise above this injustice.

I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:14....

Revenge is sweet, sweeter than life itself - so say fools....

As an old Chinese saying advises,

Revenge does not quench anger because it refuses to be satisfied. And worse, with resentment is we become a warped character wherein it makes us become like the one whom we can not forgive.

We should quit bringing these negative pasts of ours up, in order to forget its hold on us. We simply need to STOP blaming these pains we feel over one person. It is natural that we will feel hurt once an injustice had been done to us, but it is up to us if we will let this injustice hurt us longer and paralyze us more. Forgiving is a thing we do not need to do for those who trespass us but a thing that we should do for our own good.
